Phone calls can be quite enjoyable when they involve people with whom you delight in connecting. It is fun to laugh together, catch up on life, and reminisce about shared memories. Personally, I love touching base with my grandma, my parents, and my nieces and nephews. Phone calls are far less pleasant when they involve telemarketers or bill collectors.
What kind of greeting do you have on your voicemail? Is it cheery and lighthearted? Succinct and professional? When I was growing up, my siblings and I used to enjoy recording fun greetings on the answering machine. One time, we let callers know that the refrigerator was answering because the answering machine was on vacation. On a different greeting, we recorded a silly song.
It can be wearisome when the person you are trying to reach is unavailable. Sometimes, you have to play “phone tag” for a while before you are able to get in touch with the person. Praise God that He answers when we call.
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
Psalm 4:1, 3
God is completely holy and righteous in all He does. His timing and answers to us are in perfect accordance with His will. He does not take a message and get back to us when He has the time. He is always available to commune with us. He desires that we sit silently in His present. He wants us to pray continually and study His Word. Will you take time today to engage in your direct line with God?
Love in Christ,
Adam
