We have all had moments of sadness and pain. Many of these instances are fleeting. You stub your toe, and it throbs for a few minutes. You are quickly able to return to your day. Other painful experiences have a more lasting effect. Perhaps you might even be able to identify seasons of deep depression, in which the aching just won’t seem to go away. God offers healing for our souls.
O Lord my God,
I cried to You for help, and You healed me.
Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones,
And give thanks to His holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
Psalm 30: 2,4-5, 11
Aren’t you thankful for the patient shepherding of our Heavenly Father? He brings ultimate healing. He is able to replace our anger and sorrow with joy and peace in Him. While our circumstances might not change, we can choose to have attitudes of praise and thanksgiving.
Only God can change our hearts and bring about this type of peace. He turns our mourning into dancing! Let us shout for joy unto the Lord! May our weeping be short – lived as we find peace in God.
Love In Christ,
Adam
