Have you taken time today to thank God for His blessings in your life? So often we get into our daily rhythms and our gaze is far from the Lord. With the chaos in the world and heartache that sometimes comes, our minds can become focused on the “here and now.”
Yet, God’s blessings are so tremendous! Each day that He affords us with breath in our lungs presents new opportunities to praise Him. He continually provides for our needs. Our supply of water, food, and shelter are gifts from His hands.
The Lord blesses us with relationships, including those found in our family, friends, and this body of believers. We can look all around us and see His handiwork. From all living creatures and the beauty of the sky, plants and trees, His creation is a majestic masterpiece. Many of us can give testimony to instances of miraculous healing, like that which Michael Williams has experienced. God’s Word is another of His many blessings.
Psalm 21 is one of our recent readings from our Bible Immersion Adventure. It is a Psalm of deliverance written by David:
You have given him [King David] his heart’s desire,
And You have not withheld the request of his lips.
For You meet him with the blessings of good things;
You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
He asked life of You,
You gave it to him,
Length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through Your salvation,
Splendor and majesty You place upon him.
For You make him most blessed forever;
You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence.
Psalm 21:2-6
David praises the Lord for deliverance from his enemies and from sin. In a far greater way, we have ultimate salvation and healing through the blood of Jesus. We have a reason to praise God for this deliverance!
We can join with David in praising the Lord that He hears and answers our prayers. What an honor it is to come before Him in prayer. While short-lived in light of eternity, God also gives us tangible blessings in this life.
We can praise God for His attributes, such as His holiness and His faithfulness. His love, grace, and mercy. May we join with David in joy and gladness in the presence of the Lord. Let me encourage you to go to God in prayers of adoration, thanking Him for His many blessings.
Love in Christ,
Adam
