Jesus is dependable. He shows up.
God’s Word is filled with promises that our Lord is with us. I love how David poetically captures the presence of our God (Psalm 139:7-12 NLT):
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
Jesus is dependable. He shows up. David would say, “Wherever you go, God’s already there.”
The promises of His presence are backed by His character. Jesus is faithful and true. He will keep His Word. He is with you and me.
In His presence, we experience all that He is. Jesus unleashes His comfort in our time of loss and hurt. He envelopes us with His love. His strong presence causes our fears to dissipate. His joy pushes out loneliness. His grace is sufficient to restore us.
Recognize Jesus as our Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and King this week. As you talk to Him in prayer, give thanks for how He expresses His presence in those ways.
Jesus is dependable. He shows up.
Love and blessings,
Dave
