God’s Lasting Patience

Ever been the person people wait on to make a decision?

“We’ll go to Chuy’s for dinner if you agree.” “The beach or the mountains? You decide this year.” Maybe it has to do with a purchase, the subject for a group presentation, or making a hire.

The wait begins for others and you are in the spotlight as you decide.

Scripture indicates that waiting happens in the spiritual realm.

The Lord has commissioned us with a command, “Be My witnesses” (Acts 1:8). We are to share the simple grace of the gospel with a world in danger of spending eternity separated from the living God.

On our part, evangelism requires a love for people, an awareness of Spirit-led opportunities, boldness plunging in, and a simple explanation of Christ’s work on the cross for us. We are equipping for those areas in our personal evangelism initiative moving through our ABFs.

On God’s part it requires the work of the Father, Spirit, and Son to draw a person in, to convict of sin, and to redeem through Christ’s finished work.

Out of His love and mercy, God is patient. He waits. Peter informs us of God’s longing to see people experience the genuine life of Christ for all eternity.

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient
toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9

So let’s join God in His work. Share the gospel with someone in your sphere of influence. That person may be the one that God is waiting on.

Love and blessings,
Dave
