It is one of the first songs that many of us learned about God. It is simple, yet it champions a core truth about God the Son. Its rhyming phrases lend to its simplicity. Have you guessed what it is? You’re right…Jesus Loves Me!
Jesus loves me, this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little to ones to Him belong.
They are weak, but He is strong.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little to ones to Him belong.
They are weak, but He is strong.
Because we are blessed to know the love of Jesus, we are able and called to show love to others. Not just love toward people who are similar to us. Rather, we are to extend the love of Christ to all individuals. Every person who has breath is made in the image of Christ and deserves to be shown love. Scripture speaks a great deal about love.
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing….They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.

1 Peter 3:8-9, 11
Love is much more than an emotion. The love which Christ calls us to requires action. As members of the body of Christ and same body of believers, our sameness of mind should flow from our unity in Christ. We ought to love with sincerity and empathy.
As we love, we are to show compassion. We are to not seek gain for ourselves. Christ living in us empowers us to bless others, even when they harm us. The love of God is an incredible gift. Let us show kindness and compassion of Christ as we put love into action toward others.
Love in Christ,
Adam
